The U.S. direct investment abroad position, or cumulative level of investment, increased $244.9 billion to $6.15 trillion at the end of 2020 from $5.91 trillion at the end of 2019, according to statistics released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). May 2021 Trade Gap is $71.2 Billion

The U.S. monthly international trade deficit increased in May 2021 according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau. The deficit increased from $69.1 billion in April (revised) to $71.2 billion in May, as imports increased more than exports. The previously published April deficit was $68.9 billion.
